Winston Parks: My first goal is to win the championship and cup with ”Khazar Lankaran”

Costa Ricanian forward of “Khazar Lankaran” Winston Parks, who scored in all three last matches, is one our players under spotlight. In his exclusive interview to official site our player shres his opinion on last matches, talks about his own performance and appreciates changes, made in the team.
- First of all we would like to know your opinion on last match against “Neftchi”.
It was very difficult game of course. We knew that they wanted to win and we were ready for this. As a result the game passed under pressure. But we made everything well, played draw and stepped into next round.
- You were injured in this match and also in a few matches before. Does it mean that defenders play harsh on you?
Of course, defenders pay special attention to me. But, I don`t think, they play harsh. You know, we played a lot of matches recently, three matches in ten days. That`s why some problems occured with my muscles, because of tiredness.
- You play as a lone forward in last games. Doesn`t it cause difficulties for you?
When you are only striker, you have to play against two or even three defenders. Here it might be difficult. But everything depends not only on forward, but on all the team. For me important thing is wings. If wings work good and provide you with passes, then you don`t have difficulties.
- Will you be ready for the next match?
I can`t say it now. I will know after training. If I dont feel pain, I will be able to play.
- Not so long time passed after our last match against AZAL. What can you say about current performance of this team?
They have very strong discipline and play very good in defence. This team strictly follows tactical scheme and can succesfully blocc players, that`s why it is hard to play against them. Also, attention should be payed how fast they go to attack from defence.
- There is a great improvement in your play after winter break. Can we say, you reached the form which you used to have?
No, I have to do more to get the perfect form. First half of the season was more difficult for me, because I had come to new championship and new club. There was an adaptation process, that`s why it was not easy to display good game. Now I`m improving, but it isn`t the best for of mine.
- Lot of players has come to club in last transfer window. Can we alreadyt see some result?
Of course. It is ver good. Last year we could rely on few players and when someone was injured it was difficult to find a replacement. But now we have a large squad and it is possible to replace one player with another when it is required.
- What can you say about your international career? You have played enough for Costa Rica national team, what is the current situation?
We have new head coach in the national team. His main goal is to find new young players, to grow next generation. That`s why he doesn`t prefer to call up experienced players, who he knows. I heard, there was some interest by him about me. Certainly, any goal I score here are showed in Costa Rica and if there will be need, I will be called up. Also, I`d like to say, that I`m not so interested in national team now. Today I`m fully focused on championship title and cup, these are first points of mine.
- You have an experience of playing in different European championships, so, what can you say about “Khazar Lankaran” perspectives in Eurocups?
European cups and national league are different things. If national championship is a long marathon, so to qualify in European contests you have to gain result in a short period. Preparation is very important here. You can read, how some player says, he is surprised of playing on that level. But, we don`t have to be surprised if we manage to do it, we just have to be ready for this challenge. Of course, we have to do more for this and we may have to strenghen our squad for this aim. But important thing is, that we go right way and it is possible for us to get the result we need.
