Khazar Lankaran completed Unibank Premier League on the second place

Our head coach celebrates his birthday

Today is the birthday of “Khazar Lankaran” Football Club head coach Mircea Rednic. He turns 49.
 
Mircea Rednic, who is Romania and Belgium citizen, has been working in our club from summer of 2010. Since this time our team played 26 games within Unibank Premier League and situated on the second place, and also got to the semifinal stage of Azerbaijan Cup.
 
 
Mircea Rednic was born in 1962. He speaks French, English and Italian apart from native Romanian language. He started his footballer career in 1978 in “Corvinul”. In 1990-1991 Rednic played in Turkish “Bursaspor”, took part in 22 matches there and scored 2 goals. Most of his players career he spent in “Standard” Liege (1991-1996). He played in 156 matches in this club and scored 4 goals. In 1996-1997 years Rednic played for Belgian side “St. Trudens” and played 14 matches in this team`s squad. He finished his footballer career in “Rapid” Bucharest (1997-2000). He scored 2 goals and played 89 games in this club.
 
Rednic took part in 3 matches in European Championship 1984 in France and 4 matches in World Cup 1990 Italy.
 
He is a Romanian champion of 1984, 1990 and 1999 years, Romanian cup holder of 1984, 1986, 1990 və 1998 years and Belgian cup holder of 1993 years.
 
After finishing his footballer career Rednic immediately started coaching. So, he worked as a head coach in “Rapid” Bucharest in 2000-2001 season. In 2001 year he managed “Bakeu”, then in 2002 he returned to “Rapid”. In 2003-2004 season he was a head coach of Saudi Arabian team “Al-Nasr”. In 2004 he worked in “Universitatea” Craiova, in 2004-2006 in “Vaslui”, in 2006-2007 in “Dinamo” Bucharest, in 2007-2008 in “Rapid” Bucharest and in 2008-2009 again in “Dinamo Bucharest”. His last workplace before “Khazar Lankaran” was Russian side “Alania” Vladikavkaz (2009).
 
As a coach Rednic has notable achievements. He gained Romanian champion title in 2003 with “Rapid” and with “Dinamo” in 2007. Rednic is a sole manager after Mircea Lucesku, who could win Romanian league with two different teams. He won Romanian cup in 2002, and Romanian Supercup in 2002 and 2003.
 
In 2003 and 2007 Rednic got the title of Manager of the year in Romania.
 
 
In 2004 he won Damask cup with “Al-Nasr”.
 
 
In 2005 Rednic promoted with Vaslui to Romanian Premier League without losing any match. He also promoted with “Alania” to Russian Premier League.
 
 
He took part in Champions League in 2003 and 2007 və UEFA Cup in 2001, 2004, 2005 and 2008 years.
